Montgomery Museum to celebrate German heritage Saturday, Oct. 20

Posted October 18, 2012

Did you know that an early German settlement is buried beneath the waters of Claytor Lake? You can learn this and more about our local German culture at Culturama 2012: German Heritage Day on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Montgomery Museum and Lewis Miller Art Center.

Activities will include community quilt making, a spinning demonstration, German music, 18th- and 19th-century games, historic presentations, a Fraktur Art Station, and beer tasting.

Admission is free, with a $5 suggested donation per family to help support the museum’s fundraising to replace the roof of the 1852 building.

Beer tastings are available to individuals at least 21 years old for a fee of $10 for six 2-ounce tastings and full beer of their choice in a souvenir mug.

All proceeds will benefit the museum, located at 300 S. Pepper St., Christiansburg.
