Trinity Lutheran youth to offer Chrismon tours at open house Dec. 16
The youth of Trinity Lutheran Church are hosting a Chrismon & Candlelight Open House on Dec. 16 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. with a closing worship service from 3:30 to 4 p.m.
The church’s Christmas trees are adorned with original Chrismons, aka Christ Monograms, made in the mid-1960s by a handful of very gifted and dedicated women under the then pastoral leadership of the Rev. Eugene Copenhaver. The youth will give 20-minute tours to anyone who would like to know more about the meaning of these ornaments.
They will also proudly offer hand-dipped candles and handmade tea candles and floating candles that they have made by melting down “retired” altar candles. These “recycled” candles represent the rebirth of our lives that Jesus was born to offer us through his grace.
Refreshments will be served during our Open House. We hope you will join us, and worship with us at 3:30 as we celebrate the beauty and meaning of the Chrismons and the Light of Christ.
