Christiansburg Aquatic Center to offer new swim fitness program
Each January, many people set goals to increase physical activity in an effort to get in better shape.
This month, the Christiansburg Aquatic Center aims to help those people reach their goals with a new program called Swim Gym for all ages and all levels of fitness.
Program organizer Susan Bricken said the hour-long program will be held each Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. and will consist of a combination of strength-building exercises, using only body weight and coached swimming.
Bricken said each participant will also receive an individual physical fitness assessment from which he or she will be assisted in the development of individual fitness goals and a nutrition plan.
The program costs $35 and kicks off Feb. 25. A membership to the center is not required.
Those interested in learning more about the program are invited to a free Swim Gym Social on Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. at the center. Bricken said the social will give those interested more information about the program, as well as being a time in which they can meet the instructors and other participants.
For more information about the course or the social, call the center at 381-7665.
