July 4th events in the New River Valley

Plan your July 4th holiday with the events listed below:

 26th Annual Blacksburg Fourth of July Celebration

The parade, themed “Preserving Our Heritage,” will begin at 2 p.m. and will start at Eheart Street at the former location of the Blacksburg Middle School in downtown and will end at the Virginia Tech’s Alumni Mall along Main Street. Following the parade, the Mount Tabor Ruritan Club will host a free showing of “Field of Dreams” at The Lyric Theatre starting at 4 p.m. There will be music at the Blacksburg Municipal Park beginning at 6 p.m. Featured bands include The Blacksburg Community Band, Blacksburg Community Strings and Celebration Chorus and The Meter’s Running featuring Big Dog Brass. Fireworks begin around 9:30 p.m.

 14th Annual Christiansburg July 4th Celebration

The celebrations will feature food vendors, music, games, door prizes and fireworks starting around 9:45 p.m. No pets are allowed.

When: 5 to 10:15 p.m.

Where: Christiansburg High School, 100 Independence Blvd.

Cost: Free

Radford’s Spirit of America July 4th Celebration

Activities include inflatables, pony rides, a climbing wall, food and craft vendors and more. There will be performances by Sam Moore and the Classic Five, Acoustic Crossroads, JD Higgins and The Country Express and more. The music headliner is former Statler Brother, Jimmy Fortune, who will perform at 8 p.m. Fireworks will begin around 10 p.m.

Pulaski County July 4th Celebration

Featuring beach music by The Part Time Party Band followed by a free minor league baseball game, the Pulaski Mariners versus the Princeton Rays.

When: Gates open at noon; music begins at 1 p.m.; game begins at 4 p.m.

Where: Calfee Park, Pulaski

Cost: Free

Floyd County Annual 4th of July Celebration

Activities include Bingo from 5 to 9 p.m., face painting, children’s games, live music and a fireman competition at 7 p.m. Fireworks begin after 9:15 p.m.

When: Gates open at 4 p.m.

Where: Floyd County High School baseball field, 721 Baker St.

Cost: $1 per person; children ages 6 and younger, free

Independence Day Celebration

Activities include 18th-century reenactors, old-time music, colonial games and dances and food.

When: Events begin at 10 a.m.

Where: Smithfield Plantation, Blacksburg

Dublin July 4th Parade

Line-up begins at 10:15 a.m. at Dublin Middle School.
