SHAWSVILLE – Drivers traveling down U.S. 460 Saturday in Shawsville may have noticed Santa Claus perusing vendor’s tents at the Shawsville Farmers Market at Meadowbrook Center.

What was Santa Claus doing in Shawsville in the middle of July?

The Shawsville Farmers Market held their first “Christmas in July” on Saturday. Children were treated to free cookies and snow cones in addition to taking free photos with Santa. There was also a story-telling elf at the Meadowbrook Library.

Several vendors sold Christmas-related merchandise in addition to their usual market inventory.

Farmer’s market-goers could take a tour of the museum on-site at the Meadowbrook Center as well as visit the “Country Store” which included several historic items from the area.

The Burgs’ Mike Shaw was there to capture photos of the event.
