Halloween World opens Blacksburg location
BLACKSBURG – Just in time for Halloween, a new Halloween costume and supply store has opened its doors at 1307 S. Main St. in Blacksburg.
Halloween World opened its second location in Blacksburg Square in September, according to store manager Victoria Johnson. The first location in Salem opened the last week of August.
The store sells Halloween accessories, makeup, costumes and various other Halloween-related items. But the store won’t pick up and leave town once trick-or-treating festivities have ended.
“We’re going to be here year-round,” Johnson said. “We’re going straight from Halloween to Christmas and will be keeping the accessories, makeup, men’s and women’s costumes and other odds and ends.”
According to Johnson, the store will change its name once the Halloween season is over and will become a party supply store specializing in each upcoming holiday.
“It makes sense to put a party store here because we’re in the middle of two schools,” Johnson said. “I’ve heard a lot of people come in and say we’re reasonably priced and have a wide selection.”
Johnson said both the Blacksburg and Salem locations carry different things, so if a customer can’t find a specific item at one of their two locations, they’re likely to find it at the other location.
“We carry three or four different lines per gender, including plus sizes, whereas other Halloween stores carry two or three,” Johnson said. “The store sells costumes for men, women, children and even pets.”
Students, Johnson added, can receive a 15 percent discount if they show their student I.D.
“Kids tell kids and kids tell kids,” Johnson said. “It gets around quick.”
The store is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m.
