NRCC to offer architectural software class this summer
Beginning Tuesday, May 22, New River Community College (NRCC) will offer a new, 10-week course in Autodesk’s Revit® Architectural software (ARC 211-M6). The course will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:40 to 7:50 p.m. at NRCC’s New River Valley Mall site in Christiansburg.
The software is built to support Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows, enabling architects to capture and analyze concepts and maintain their vision throughout design, documentation and construction.
“Revit is a wonderful program that allows you to apply extremely detailed design elements in a model with relative ease,” says Jeff Levy, NRCC drafting instructor and CAD program head. “This class will be a great opportunity for students to gain a foothold with most intuitive design software in the industry.”
Levy notes that in addition to architecture students, those currently in the interior design, bath and kitchen, construction technology, structural and industrial engineering fields could also benefit from this course. No previous experience with Revit is required for participation, however, some experience with basic CAD or drawing programs is recommended, and basic computer and Internet skills are a must. Registration begins Tuesday, April 17.
Current NRCC students who are interested in this course may register online by visiting their student accounts. Prospective NRCC students may visit http://www.nr.edu/admissions for enrollment information.
