Virginia Tech Police lieutenant earns master scuba diver certification
Lt. Curtis Cook of the Virginia Tech Police Department has achieved the Master Scuba Diver Certification, the highest non-instructional rating in the PADI Diver program.
Cook serves as team leader for the Virginia Tech Police Underwater Recovery Team. He has been a SCUBA Diver for more than 26 years and holds numerous Public Safety Diver certifications, including Dive Rescue Specialist, Emergency Response Diver, Underwater Investigator and Swift Water Rescue Technician. Cook began his water-rescue career as a U.S. Navy search-and-rescue swimmer.
He was assisted in his certification by instructor Scott Sanders and the Avalon Dive Center.
