Children in New River Community College’s Early Learning Center enjoyed a special treat this week – a boat!
The children built a boat in their classroom out of wooden blocks, and after seeing their interest in the subject, Bonnie Graham, NRCC’s head of early childhood education, brought in her personal paddle boat to inspire further learning experiences for the children.
NRCC students in the Early Childhood Education Program work in the ELC as a laboratory experience and have been helping the children with activities including turn-taking, discussions about lake and marine life and reading stories about boats and water.
