NRCC’s Petty earns certification, Cox reappointed to advisory board

New River Community College has annouced recent faculty and staff news regarding Bobby Petty and Beckie Cox.

Petty, an adjunct welding instructor at NRCC, recently attended the American Welding Society’s training seminar in Roanoke where he earned his Certified Welding Inspector credential, a nationally and internationally recognized certification that includes diligent study of numerous codes, welding processes, terminology and testing methodologies. Petty has been an instructor at NRCC since 2009.

Cox, rapid response coordinator at NRCC, was recently reappointed to serve on the Governor’s Advisory Board on Volunteerism and National Service.

The board was established by Gov. Bob McDonnell in July 2010 and advises the Governor and Cabinet secretaries on national and community service issues.
