Posted January 2, 2013

A group of information technology students known as the NRCC Games team recently released its latest educational game called “Ratio Racer” through the Apple App Store. The team has created several games that address topics such as synonyms, antonyms, homonyms and reading comprehension for younger students. Ratio Racer is their first game targeting math operations for high school and college students.

The current team includes members Cody Beasley, Ben Brumback, Jerry Light, Sam Loeschen, James St. Clair and Heather Walters.

NRCC Games is part of the grant-funded iLearn project and works to create educational games for iPods, iPads and iPhones based on Virginia’s Standards of Learning.

More information about game design and other NRCC information technology programs may be found on the department’s website at www.nr.edu/it.
