NRCC GED preparation classes available throughout the NRV
GED preparation classes offered through the New River Community College Office of Transitional Programs are currently underway at multiple locations in Montgomery, Floyd, Giles and Pulaski Counties and the city of Radford.
Classes are led by a classroom instructor and make use of both online content and textbook materials. Students are encouraged to work together to develop an in-class community while the classroom teacher helps facilitate the learning process. Subject areas covered in these courses include social studies, math, reading, writing and science. Additionally, some “soft skills” such as interpersonal communication, are also covered.
Advisors will also be available to students throughout the course to assist them with staying on track and developing goals.
These GED preparation class sessions run in four-week increments and students must register through the NRCC Office of Transitional Programs in order to participate. Students may attend more than one session based on their goals and course of study.
There is a non-refundable fee of $10 per session which may later be applied toward GED test fees. Waivers are available by contacting the Office of Transitional Programs.
Upcoming class dates are as follows: Session 2: February 11-March 15; Session 3: March 18-April 19 and Session 4: April 22-March 24.
