Arrest made in attempted Radford CVS armed robbery
A failed drug store armed robbery Halloween night led to an arrest, according to Radford police.
Reportedly, a man wearing a mask brandished a shotgun inside the CVS Pharmacy on Main Street in an attempt to steal medication. He wasn’t able to get any medication or money, and fled shortly before police arrived at 9:50 p.m.
Police quickly issued a be-on-the-lookout and the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office helped with the investigation.
A clerk received minor injuries and was taken to New River Valley Medical Center in Radford. Shortly after that, Derek Adam Stevenson, 26, of Radford, was arrested.
Stevenson is charged with attempted armed robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon and wearing a mask in public. He’s being held in the New River Valley Regional Jail without bond.
