Montgomery County routinely shows up in the top 10 most highly taxed county in the country. If Leggett was accountable, instead of offering thousand dollar bonuses for county employees and hiring more people, he would have an effectiveness audit and reduce ALL COUNTY departments not involved in infrastructure and transportation to reduce their budgets by 5% this year and 5% next year.
Reduce our expenses. Have you been in county offices lately? Many opportunities for improvement.

I have no problem with most tax increases and honestly, the taxes in Montgomery County are not all that outrageous. The problem comes from not knowing where that money is going to end up being spent. Too often, each time there is a tax increase in the name of schools, the superintendent and other "executives" in that school district get big pay raises in the following year.

Is it too much to ask that we be able to see where every single dollar of OUR money is going? If you're going to ask me to help fund two new schools, I'd like to be presented with a comprehensive itemized list of what you're going to do with it. If I knocked on your front door and demanded that you give me a thousand dollars "for the good of the county", you're going to want to know exactly what I plan to do with it, aren't you?
