Auburn Middle School gets reprieve
CHRISTIANSBURG — Auburn Middle School is saved, at least for now, after a marathon Montgomery County School Board meeting Tuesday night drew hundreds of residents to protest a proposed closing.
Voting in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the school board decided to close the last $400,000 of a $4.2million budget gap by cutting jobs rather than shuttering Auburn Middle for two years.
