Mistrial is declared in attempted murder case against Christiansburg man

CHRISTIANSBURG — A year removed from his shootout with police, a Montgomery County jury could not decide if Jeramiah Chamberlain was responsible for attempted capital murder.

A mistrial in the case was declared late Wednesday morning, after the jury deliberated several hours in addition to time it spent discussing the case Tuesday evening. The county prosecutor’s office said shortly after that it will retry Chamberlain on the charge.
