Christiansburg High School Principal Rhonda Poindexter has moved to a new role with Montgomery County school system’s office of secondary education.
Mike Stanley, an assistant principal at the high school, will fill in on an interim basis as principal, the school system announced today.
A news release issued this morning said that the school system is searching for a permanent replacement to fill the principal’s job.
“I know that we will find a quality educator to fill this role and serve the students in Christiansburg,” Superintendent Brenda Blackburn said in the release.
Poindexter was the county’s supervisor of secondary education for the first half of 2006. She started at Christiansburg High School as an interim principal in July 2006 and was named principal a year later.
She also was an assistant principal at Blacksburg High School in 2005 and before that worked with Roanoke city public schools.
In her new role, Poindexter will work with Montgomery County secondary education director Nelson Simpkins, schools spokeswoman Brenda Drake said.
