Montgomery County School Board revisits pay-to-play issue

CHRISTIANSBURG — Protest of Montgomery County schools’ new pay-to-play policy continued Tuesday ahead of a likely school board vote on it later this week.

“Thank you for reconsidering,” Laura Wills of Christiansburg told board members at a Tuesday work session. The board is meeting again Thursday to discuss changing the pay-to-play measure adopted last month as part of the schools budget.

About 50 people turned out Tuesday — more than a usual school board meeting, but less than turnouts at other county and school budget meetings this year.
