Blacksburg police warn of scam targeting ADT customers

Posted July 25, 2012

Blacksburg police offered a scam alert today in reference to a man offering door-to-door home security upgrades.

According to the alert, police received a complaint that a man posing as a Honeywell sales representative has approached ADT customers at their homes. Honeywell told police that they don’t send employees door-to-door to offer security upgrades.

Police said they believe the man is  possibly trying to  gain personal identification and bank information. Police urge the public not to allow the man access to their home. If approached, police said to call law enforcement immediately.
