Frozen yogurt shop to open second NRV location
BLACKSBURG – The New River Valley’s second SweetFrog Premium Frozen Yogurt shop is scheduled to open next week at University Mall in Blacksburg, according to owner Robert Lupica.
“We’re hoping for Tuesday or Wednesday of next week,” Lupica said.
Lupica owns five other SweetFrog shops in Virginia, including the Christiansburg location.
SweetFrog serves more than 50 flavors of frozen yogurt in a family-friendly environment at a modest price, according to its website.
Lupica said the Blacksburg location will likely be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day, but those hours could change based on student foot-traffic.
“We’re excited about this location because of the 30,000 students right here,” Lupica said. “This is a great spot with the bus stop here, Math Emporium, Five Guys, Panera Bread and Starbucks.”
Both the Christiansburg and Blacksburg locations are focused on becoming a part of the community, Lupica said. Lupica said they’ll work with nonprofits, high schools and other organizations in the area.
“We’re excited to be a part of the community of Blacksburg and we’re excited to give back in any ways that we can,” Lupica said.
Lupica said the Blacksburg location will be hiring 15-20 positions and interested applicants can get an application from the Christiansburg SweetFrog, located at the Spradlin Farm shopping center, during normal business hours.
