Veteran Christiansburg planner Nichole Hair is now the planning director, the town announced this morning.

She succeeds Randy Wingfield, who was named to the assistant town manager’s post in April, a move that followed Barry Helms’ promotion into the town manager’s job.

Hair has worked for Christiansburg’s planning department for 11 years.

“What I’m most excited about in this new position is to continue working with the town, Town Council and Planning Commission and moving forward with short-term and long-term goals that work to improve our community.” Hair said in a news release issued by the town.

Also in the release, Helms said, “Nichole’s energy will be a great asset to the town in the position of Planning Director. Her dedication and involvement in the community places her at an advantage to anticipate how best to assist in Christiansburg’s growth.”
