Blacksburg grant program fixing homes

Rick Cumbee is pretty sure his house wouldn’t be dry if a town-run home repair program hadn’t stepped in and given him a new roof.

Now the Blacksburg Estates resident is helping town officials spread word about the initiative, part of the town’s ongoing attempt to remain affordable for lower- and moderate-income residents. The town’s ratio of housing in all price ranges has been a source of concern for town officials and some residents for years.
