Montgomery County officials lament lack of money
Montgomery County supervisors and school board members sat down Thursday to commiserate with one another about the budget woes that have racked the county this year — and seem likely to continue next year.
“We kind of, in layman’s terms, maxed out the credit card,” County Administrator Craig Meadows said about the county’s borrowing to pay for a $124.5 million effort to build two new high schools and convert a third into a middle school. It will be five or so years before the county pays its debt down enough to borrow significant amounts for any more projects, he said.
