Parents seek to sue Steger for April 16 shootings
The parents of two Virginia Tech students who successfully sued the state for the deaths of their daughters in a 2007 campus shooting spree now want to hold the university’s president accountable for failing to alert students and faculty of the first shootings on campus.
Attorneys for the parents are asking the state Supreme Court to overturn a lower court’s ruling that dismissed President Charles W. Steger from their wrongful death lawsuit.
The Roanoke Times has more on this story from the Associated Press.

oh come on folks, get over your selves. move on. nothing of that magnitude ever happened before on a college campus. Nothing in a book could ever prepare you to make decisions that president steager was forced to make with the little information he had at the time. Second guessing afgter all the facts are in is easy. mr steager didnt know all the facts. I know it is hard to lose someone you loved dearly but are things no one can control. Unfortunatly everyone shot at the sooting was in th ewrong place at the wrong time. Sue mr steager when time travel is possible. I am sure if time travel was possible he would go back in time and tell each of the victims not to go home spend time with their loved ones. he would also remove the killer from the campus.

I’m sorry Steve but you are wrong! The moving on would have been done in 2007, had Steger and all university officials involved in having a hand in deciding NOT to send an “alarm”/”warning” when all facts were known as early as 7:50-8:00 that they had a situation where one student dead, one student shoot, no gun, no suspect, bloody footprints leading out of the room and a bloody thumb print on the door handle leading down the stairway out of the building. At that point, I feel there was Eminent Danger and the campus should have been warned and classes canceled. It would possible have saved 30 more lives?? All university leaders involved had the authority and control to warn the whole campus, not just some. Oh yea my point being AN APOLOGY for not sending the warning 1 hour and 55 minutes earlier–for what ever reason. There would have been nothing to second guess.
