New River Valley registrars say fewer new voters signing up
Voter registrar offices are humming around the New River Valley’s two universities. But while new registrations are pouring in, there are far fewer than there were before the 2008 presidential election.
Montgomery County Registrar Randy Wertz predicted Thursday that the county would end up with perhaps 6,000 new registrations from the three months before the Nov. 6 election. That’s down from the more than 8,000 turned in before the 2008 balloting.
