BLACKSBURG — About 50 volunteers waited Sunday evening to see Matt Romney, son of presidential candidate Mitt Romney, at the Blacksburg Victory Office.
Matt Romney arrived at the Draper Road office and greeted volunteers and supporters as he entered the building to chants of “16 more days.”
He began fist-pumping as he walked up stairs to meet the gathered crowd.
Inside the office, he thanked volunteers for supporting his father.
“When I get out and meet volunteers and people that are actually spending their time and in some cases their money, certainly their resources, it’s very touching and humbling and uplifting,” he said.
He then picked up his cellphone and told the volunteers he was going to call a family member.
“Hey, Dad,” Matt Romney said as he greeted his father on the phone. “I’m with supporters in Blacksburg.”
Mitt Romney addressed the volunteers via speakerphone thanking them for their support and told them their work was making a “real difference” for his campaign.
