Posted November 27, 2012

A tractor-trailer fire on Interstate 81 northbound Monday afternoon caused a 10-mile traffic backup.

The call about the fire came in at 2:55 p.m., according to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Brian Wright. The driver of the truck, which was carrying potatoes, was uninjured, Wright said.

The northbound lanes were initially closed at mile marker 127. Both lanes reopened at about 4:30 p.m., according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
