NewRiver Bank, a branch of Roanoke-based Hometown Bank, is set to open a new Christiansburg location in summer 2013.

A new 9,000-square-foot building is under construction at 2950 Market St., which has sat vacant since a Texas Steakhouse restaurant closed several years ago.

NewRiver Bank opened two smaller offices on Roanoke Street in 2008. Both will be combined in the new building, said Carolyn Kiser, marketing director for Hometown Bank.

The independent Hometown Bank opened in 2005, according to Kiser, and has expanded to five branches across the state handling $369 million in assets.
