Christmas for the Fishes event at Claytor Lake postponed
The Christmas for the Fishes event scheduled for Tuesday at Claytor Lake has been postponed until Wednesday, Jan. 23.
Friends of Claytor Lake announced the postponement in an email sent Monday.
Friends of Claytor Lake Executive Director Jeff Caldwell said the event was postponed until Jan. 23 because of potential inclement weather at Claytor Lake on Tuesday.
Volunteers at Claytor Lake were scheduled to drop more than 125 Christmas trees into the lake Tuesday morning in an effort to continue building an artificial habitat for fish living in the lake.
Christmas trees will be tied to concrete blocks and then dropped in three designated areas in the lake. The spots are about 13 to 17 feet deep and are marked with a fish habitat buoy.
Those interested in volunteering should contact VDGIF Fisheries Biologist John Copeland, who can be reached by email at john.copeland@dgif.virginia.gov or at 871-6064.

Awesome!!!! Another place to lose your lure in brush. Love it. Make sure to let us know where these trees are dropped so we can avoid the area.
