Marco & Luca, a Chinese cuisine restaurant with three locations in Charlottesville, is opening a new location at University Mall in Blacksburg within weeks.
The restaurant is located in the former Quizno’s Subs location, and owner Dragana Katalina-Sun said it could open as early as next week, pending inspections.
Katalina-Sun said the Marco & Luca restaurant boasts a simple menu, which features traditional Chinese dishes, including the restaurant’s most popular item – a broccoli and ginger dumpling dish.
Customers will order food from a register and then be given a number to pick up their meal when the order is completed.
Co-owner Sun Da, Katalina-Sun’s husband, was driving around Blacksburg one day when he noticed the vacant space at 725 University City Blvd., Katalina-Sun said.
He met with the owner of the building and the two hit it off.
“My husband is attracted to university areas,” Katalina-Sun said. “Learning and studying is something he loves to do. We want the restaurant to be a place for people to study, eat, talk and socialize.”
Marco & Luca will have to-go options. The restaurant will not deliver at first, and delivery options will depend on the market and is a strong possibility in the future, she said.
Katalina-Sun said she plans on hiring at least three employees. Those interested in working at Marco & Luca should contact Katalina-Sun at 434-227-6690.
The restaurant quickly became popular in Charlottesville and Katalina-Sun hopes their fourth location can be welcomed with similar success in Blacksburg.
“We are excited to meet new friends in Blacksburg,” Katalina-Sun said.

I’m so excited for this! I visit the C-ville locations whenever I’m close. So glad they decided to come to Hokieville!!!

I read that the C-ville locations are cash only. Any word on whether that will be true for the Blacksburg location?

Nice to see something other than greasy burgers and college kid food coming to the area!

This location is cash only as well. It’s worth the effort.
Dumplings are killer, I used to visit the CVille one when I was traveling from NRV to RVA
