RU Police reaccredited with perfect score
The Radford University Police Department announced last week that it has been reaccredited by the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission — achieving certification with a perfect score.
The agency is only the second in the commission’s history to pass with a flawless report, according to a news release.
Each accreditation cycle is four years. To qualify for accreditation, the department must be in compliance with 187 standards set by the commission.
According to the release, the department is the first university police agency in Virginia to ace its final exam. Radford University is currently one of three university police departments with accreditation from the commission, the release stated.
Three members of the commission in December inspected the department’s facilities and operations, according to the release.
“With this important endorsement, the community can be assured that the Radford University Police Department is operating at the highest level of proficiency and professionalism,” Chief Colleen Roberts said in the release.
