  1. The end of the article says a supervisor liason will meet with the school board to dicuss how to spend the money. Did the school board not already tell the supervisors what they would spend the money on – A study? Is the liason going to direct them to not spend it on the study?

If not, keep it in the bank!

Oh and forget about a five cent increase, that is silly talk after a record breaking increase last year. Shame on you RT for publishing such nonsense.

  2. It is about time the Montgomery County Supervisors stand up for accountability and for taxpayers – they have been getting pushed around by a free-spending School Board for years.

  3. The supervisors should consider the needs of the taxpayer as they balance the needs of schools. The schools are an important part of the community but the schools do not represent the community’s entire needs. In terms of a tax bases, our community is more rural than urban. Trying to tax the local community to create a school system that resembles a Northern Virginia school system may be a bit unrealistic given our stark differences in property values.

  4. I totally agree with the first comment. We have a strange system: one board approves the amount of money, but the second board determines how it’s spent. This muddies the accountability. The BOS has to stand up!

  5. School board use the money to fix schools not study on how to fix them and board of Supervisors you complain about how much schools cost. There is a 26.8 million dollar courthouse in Christiansburg that we could have done with out and another 14 million for the new Sheriff’s Office Really?
