Parts of the New River and Roanoke valleys awoke to a mess Thursday after a storm dropped 2 to 6 inches of rain,” resulting in closed schools, dozens of swamped cars, evacuations and a dam scare. It also touched off a “gustnado” that damaged some structures in Pulaski County.
