About Us … and how to contact us

Posted September 23, 2011

We’re excited to welcome you to The Burgs, a website and print publication covering Blacksburg, Christiansburg and communities of the New River Valley.

We launched on Sept. 27, 2011, with the mission of capturing the vitality and unique character of one of the fastest-growing communities in Southwest Virginia.

The Burgs is part of The Roanoke Times family, so you can expect a mix of hard news and features from our reporters based in the New River Valley. But you’ll also find a new emphasis on news and achievements in local schools, businesses and youth sports, as gathered by our community journalists based in Blacksburg (Mike Shaw) and Christiansburg (Travis Williams).

But we can’t do this without you! We are inviting our readers to help us by contributing their own photos, stories and community information. The Burgs also will be a place where you can talk about local issues and share your opinion.

Where can I find the print version of The Burgs?

Look for the print tabloid every Thursday through Sunday in the New River Valley editions of The Roanoke Times. [Where can I buy a Roanoke Times in the New River Valley?] Subscribe by calling (800) 346-1234, ext. 211, or emailing customer@roanoke.com.

How can I share my news or photos?

If you’re interested in contributing news or just passing along your thoughts, we’d love to hear from you! Email news@theburgs.com. Upload your photos via our submission form. Follow us on Twitter @TheBurgsNRV or ‘like’ us on Facebook.
