Ask candidates about science
By Christian Trejbal
National elections have crashed onto the New River Valley. We are the center of a swing region in a swing state. Where Roanoke is reliably Democratic, the New River Valley has the potential to surprise. Blacksburg might be blue and rural counties red, but there is enough balance to put the valley as a whole in play.
And the two major political parties are playing for keeps. Advertisements crowd the airwaves; signs pop up along every thoroughfare.
