Slow down on traffic calming
Last week, Christiansburg Town Council discussed a long-needed traffic-calming program. There is no need to rush, though. Council should give residents a genuine chance to weigh in before adopting a new ordinance . . . and any traffic calming for that matter.
Christiansburg motorists know which streets to avoid, thoroughfares where traffic volume and traffic lights induce headaches. The stretches of North Franklin Street and Peppers Ferry Road around the New River Mall come immediately to mind.
