Food pantry deserves tax relief
By Chris Tuck
After reading the editorial of July 29 regarding the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors’ decision to grant tax-exempt status to a food pantry in Elliston, I felt that I should share my thought process in reaching my decision. In voting in favor of the tax-exempt status, I understood that it did set a precedent, and it’s my intention to give the same careful scrutiny to each subsequent request.
Winston Churchill said, “There is no finer investment for any community than putting milk into babies.”
Tuck is a member of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors.
