The Senate race comes to the NRV
By Christian Trejbal
The New River Valley is probably one of the most swinging regions in a swinging state. With only a few weeks left until Election Day, it is time to get serious about looking at the candidates.
For my money, the most important race around these parts is not the one focused on Big Bird lately. If President Obama loses Virginia, he still has plenty of ways to win enough electoral votes to hold onto the White House. If Mitt Romney loses Virginia, he has fewer routes to victory, but not all would be lost.
No, the race I am closely watching is for Senate. The balance of power in Congress’ upper chamber could well hinge on whether Democrat Tim Kaine or Republican George Allen wins.
