Stop parking in Stadium Woods

Several weeks ago, the Virginia Tech administration wisely decided not to cut down a large part of Stadium Woods for a new athletic facility. It was a decision that is greatly appreciated by most of the students, faculty, staff and community.
At the same time, administrators also decided not to follow the recommendations from their ad hoc committee and the environmental report by BioHabitats that called for protecting the woods by placing them in a permanent conservation easement.
Absher has been an arborist for more than 40 years. He lives in Blacksburg and is a graduate of Virginia Tech.
