I am sorry, but your letter made me chuckle. Stealing signs happens during every election. I would say get over it. It has happened to me before.
I stopped putting signs in my yard for this reason. That and a yard sign will not influence a voter.

Um, do you realize where you live? Do you realize how the student residents of your town almost overshadows the actual town population?? It is overrun with the “childish”, “cowardly”, and “immature”. OF COURSE they are going to do such things. And stealing things is hilarious for young adults especially when it is something of little to no value, like a plastic election sign. Better tie down your garden gnomes while you are at it – I know you have them!
