Blacksburg embraces the arts and culture

Roanoke and Montgomery County are geographically close enough to collaborate on many things. Yet they are far enough apart to be distinct. They are Southwest Virginia siblings, if you will, with sibling rivalries.
The Roanoke and New River valleys compete for employers, tourists and attention. A victory lasts only until the next “Best of” announcement or economic development triumph.
On one front, however, the NRV could soon open a long lead. It is poised to become the arts and culture center of Southwest Virginia.
