Greg Burgess receives MCPS Support Staff Employee of the Year award
Greg Burgess, construction and engineering assistant, was named the MCPS Support Staff Employee of the Year on Thursday, May 10. Burgess is the first support staff employee to receive this award from Montgomery County Public Schools.
Burgess was instrumental in the building of Eastern Montgomery Elementary School and Price’s Fork Elementary School. “Greg’s strong set of skills, sense of humor, attention to detail and perseverance in resolving issues were pivotal to our building’s successful completion,” said Dollie Cottrill, Price’s Fork Elementary School principal.
Burgess has served as the construction and engineering assistant with MCPS for four years. Previously he worked in the construction industry. He possesses a Virginia masters license for plumbing, HVAC and gas fitting. He is also a certified pipe welder.
“Greg’s background in construction is extremely beneficial as we continue to build new schools and repair existing facilities,” said Dan Berenato, director of facilities. “His teamwork, work ethic and energy are an asset to the division.”
