Draper Aden Associates presented 10 fifth-graders at Kipps Elementary School with a “Good Citizen Award” on May 22, 2012. Those selected for the honor were: Leah Keith, Carlie Simmers, Jessie Shen, Emily Fitch, Stu Forsman, Markely Bortz, Molly Teller, Aaron Santa Maria, AnnaKate Showalter, and Zachary Hosig. The students received a certificate of “Good Citizenship” and a $25 gift card to a local bookstore.

“This award recognized several students who are on the right track, demonstrating they do understand the most important basic rules in life of being responsible, acting with kindness and caring, being honest and showing respect—some great core values,” said Rick DiSalvo Jr., chief operating officer of Draper Aden Associates. “We want to encourage solid beginnings as good citizens, especially those who display an early maturity and a focus on one of life’s most important qualities,” added DiSalvo.

The Good Citizen Award Program was initiated by Draper Aden Associates in 1995 with the first fifth-grade graduating class at Kipps Elementary School. The program was started in order to promote outstanding citizenship in our schools by promoting kindness and respect. Students are selected by their teachers based on those criteria.

Draper Aden Associates extends its congratulations to these outstanding students and their parents.

  1. Sirs, I couldn’t help but notice that the good citizens of Kipps Elementary are disproportionately white. Is there not a single African American student that deserves this honor ? To leave out any minority when choosing “good citizens” is poor judgement and a bad lesson to teach in our public schools.
