Best Buy NRV seeks to defend contest title, win $25,000 for another local school
The New River Valley Best Buy is working hard again this year to win the Intel Retail Edge Score With Intel Core Contest. The grand prize for the contest is $25,000 for a local K-12 school to update their technology.
The Score with Intel Core Contest was first held in 2011, and the New River Valley Best Buy won the grand prize. They donated the $25,000 check to Montgomery County Public Schools.
This year, Best Buy NRV is asking its shoppers to choose which school should receive the money if Best Buy wins again this year. Customers and local residents can vote for either Pulaski Middle School, Christiansburg Middle School, Bland County High School or Radford High School at Facebook.com/BestBuyNRV.
General Manager Jason Short has asked that the spirit of the poll should remain that of friendly competition.
In order to win the contest, Best Buy employees must undergo rigorous product knowledge training on Intel Core’s processor lineup. If the New River Valley Best Buy completes the most trainings nationally, as they did last year, they will win a private party and $25,000 for a local school.
The New River Valley Best Buy will be celebrating its fifth year in Christiansburg at the end of October.
