Del. Greg Habeeb announces back-to-school art contest for 8th District
Del. Greg Habeeb announced Monday the start of the 8th House of Delegates District “Back to School Art Contest.” The contest is open to all students in the 8th District and will close Oct. 12.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the great work from students across the 8th District,” said Habeeb. “Art is a wonderful way for students to express themselves and explore their talents.”
Three winners will be chosen from the entries in three age groups: elementary, middle and high schools. Two additional at-large winners will be chosen. The winners will be invited in January to visit the Capitol and see their artwork hung in the General Assembly Building.
The theme for this year’s contest is “Virginia Wildlife.”
“The variety and beauty of Virginia’s wildlife is unmatched by any other state in the country. From the rugged animals of the commonwealth’s western slopes, to the colorful birds of central Virginia to the diverse marine life of the Chesapeake Bay, I believe Virginia has been truly blessed with a range of creatures and environments. I hope students can capture that diversity and beauty in their artwork,” Habeeb said.
Entry guidelines, as well as a student release form, are available by clicking here. For more information, visit www.greghabeeb.com.
