Coleman Brittle, president of the Blacksburg Sports Club, was pleased to present a check to Blacksburg High School Principal Michael Hurst and athletic director Jack Hencke to support athletic programs at the school. A matching contribution has been made to Virginia Tech.
BSC has made contributions of more than $50,000 over a five-year period as part of their mission, which is to support local varsity athletic programs, primarily those of Blacksburg High School and Virginia Tech, and to provide a setting for fellowship and education around a sports theme.
The club, founded in 1963, meets weekly from late August through early May and monthly during the summer. A brief program features coaches, staff, and other guests from Virginia Tech and Blacksburg High School. Both major and minor sports are included. A buffet lunch at Custom Catering in Blacksburg begins at 11:30 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m. Visitors and new members are welcome. Visit the club’s website at http://www.blacksburgsportsclub.net/.
