Newsome has Hokies in his genes

BLACKSBURG — Hampton High School athlete Deon Newsome is following in his father’s footsteps and coming to Virginia Tech to play football.

Newsome, whose father, Myron, was a linebacker at Virginia Tech from 1995-96, picked the Hokies over an offer from Virginia, Hampton coach Mike Smith said Thursday.
