Radford’s Beall talks softly, carries big stick

RADFORD — There is a reason Nichole Beall has belted the most home runs in Radford University softball history.
“I just swing hard,” she said. “I don’t like just putting the ball in play. If I’m going to hit it, I want to hit it as hard as I can. Even if I get two strikes on me, I’m going to swing as hard as I can.”
The senior shortstop has smacked 52 homers, the second-highest total in Big South Conference history. She is tied for the league lead this season with 13.
