Cave Spring’s catcher a big hit in final

PULASKI — Ryan Gerhardt had to wait for a while to take his turn as Cave Spring High School’s catcher. It took him a bit longer after that to find his batting stroke.
It probably would have suited Hidden Valley better if the Knights senior were still waiting in both instances.
First-year starter Gerhardt continued to loom as an offensive threat in the No. 8 hole in Cave Spring’s batting order when he homered and drove in four runs to help spark an 8-3 victory over archrival Hidden Valley in the final of the River Ridge District tournament at Calfee Park Friday.
