Christiansburg’s Rochelle Evans blends power, technique to outdistance the competition

“I played basketball in seventh grade, and it was all power,” said Rochelle Evans, whose ability to combine power with coordination has made her Group AA’s top-ranked shot and discus thrower heading into the state championship meet today at Harrisonburg High School.
Evans, who graduated from Christiansburg High School on Tuesday, is the defending state champion in both events.
